$2,500 Reward Offered to Catch Person Who Starved and Dumped Two Dogs in Pontotoc County

faith2Pontotoc County, MS (June 23, 2016) – In Defense of Animals, the international animal protection organization that operates Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi and the Mississippi based Justice for Animals Campaign has announced a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who starved and dumped two dogs in Pontotoc County, Mississippi.

A member of the public found the pair of emaciated female dogs who had apparently been left for dead on Big Hill Road just off of Hwy. 278 in Pontotoc on Thursday June 9.

Hope Animal Sanctuary’s Sharon Stone responded to the call for help. She said, “The dogs were in such a severe condition, it is a miracle they hadn’t died. Their poor bodies had eaten every ounce of fat in an effort to stay alive. They were too weak to even lift their heads – the only movement from either of them was their little eyes, sunken back into the sockets.”

The pair were named Hope and Faith by their rescuers. Despite the most diligent round-the-clock care, little Faith passed away. Survivor Hope is receiving specialist care at Hope Animal Sanctuary. Her rehabilitation will take months, but she is expected to make a full recovery.

hopeThe identity of the dogs’ guardian remains a mystery. Whoever starved and dumped the pair could face up to six months incarceration and a fine of $2,500. In Defense of Animals is offering a substantial reward to find the cruel perpetrator and bring them to justice.

In Defense of Animals’ Justice for Animals Campaigner Doll Stanley said, “Someone knows who did this. If you recognize these dogs, please contact us. We cannot stand by and allow this crime to go unpunished.”

Anyone with information related to this crime may contact In Defense of Animals anonymously at (415) 448-0048 or contact Sharon Stone, Operations Manager for Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, MS. (662) 466-0906.
