5,000 Attend 1st SoCal VegFest

Celebrating Healthy Eating and Conscious Living

Over 5000 people attended the first SoCal VegFest at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California on World Vegan Day, November 1st! IDA joined hundreds of exhibitors as we distributed free Vegan Starter Kits, raised awareness about animal issues, and introduced our Animal Activist Support Line to local activists. Pedestrian traffic at our booth was non-stop!

Attendance figures are based on the following factors: venue manager’s review of on-campus events, parking lot car counts, and vendor sales. There was constant traffic flowing in and out of the parking lots. According to the festival Exit Poll, 97% said they would return, 65% were vegan or vegetarian, 35% were not, and 60-70% found the festival on Facebook.

The VegFest included free plant-based food samplings, musical entertainment, guest speakers, cooking demonstrations, raffles, interactive booths, food vendors, humane organizations, a children’s activity area, and more. The festival, organized by Animal Protection and Rescue League (APRL) volunteers, provided resources for attendees who wanted to learn how to live a healthy, environmentally friendly, and compassionate life.
