Abandon an Animal: Get Fined!

March 21st, 2013 by Eric Phelps

IDA staff at Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi deal with a lot of animal abandonment. Our priority is to provide a safe haven for animals in need, but we also want to hold accountable those who contribute to animal cruelty. That’s why we’ve launched a new campaign, complete with $750 rewards.

For years, Hope Animal Sanctuary has saved thousands of abandoned animals needing refuge. Each spring, abandonment increases – litters of unwanted puppies and kittens dumped by roadsides, left to fend for themselves. Unwanted litters of animals that their guardians could have easily prevented by spaying and neutering their animals.

In an effort to hold these animal abusers accountable, IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary is now offering a standing $750 reward for the arrest and conviction of anyone caught abandoning animals in Mississippi – not just dogs and cats, but ANY animal. Those who know of an abandonment within Mississippi are asked to contact us at 662-809-4483 or ERU@idausa.org. If the tip leads to arrest and conviction of the person(s) abandoning an animal, we’ll pay you a $750 reward. It’s that simple.

Important – this program is only for the state of Mississippi.

STOP ABUSING AND LOCKING UP ANIMALS IN SMALL CAGES. WHOEVER IS CRUEL TO ANIMALS WILL PAY FOR IT ONE DAY. I BELIEVE IN KARMA. ALSO WHEN YOU DIE YOU WILL ROT IN HELL.

Abandon an animal,go to Jail. Abandonment should be treated as a crime because that is what it is.

People who abandon animals should go to jail for an extended period of time. Make cruel people pay for their crime in a serious way. No slap on the wrist.

IF they can catch the person who does it, I’m all for it,so many animals have to be put in shelters and wait years or sometimes never get adopted and so many are needlessly killed every day due to irresponsible pet owners! I would fine a lot more personally but $750 IS better than nothing.

Quel honte d’abandonner des petits anges sans défense !! Les
animaux n’abandonnent pas les humains ,ils sont pleins de gentillesse
fidélité à donner ,ils nous regardent toujours avec douceur, sans jamais
    nous condamner….

Excellent. I think the punishment should be the same as the abuse (unless death occurred). For example, If you knew you would be shot in the head but not die, would you still shoot that squirrel??
