In Defense of Animals is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of our supporters, members and visitors to our Web sites. To this end, we have created this privacy policy to inform you of our practices and policies regarding our collection and dissemination of personal information.

Privacy Statement

To best serve you and the animals we are determined to protect, give sanctuary, and advocate for, we use the information supplied by you to update you on breaking news as well as our ongoing campaigns and programs. Keeping you informed is critical to the success of our efforts on behalf of our animal friends. If you have permitted us to do so, we will communicate ways you can help, and details about our campaigns, activities and volunteer opportunities through our mailings, magazines, newsletters, and weekly e-newsletters. We do not collect personal information other that what is supplied to us on a voluntary basis.

We do use information supplied by you and information gathered on our websites to analyze its usage to better serve you and our animal friends. We take great care to ensure that personal information remains confidential. Our Web server is located in a locked secure environment. When you donate to IDA online, we use a secure server and encryption to protect your personal and financial information during transmission.

You will only receive IDA e-mail newsletters (e-news) if you have expressly requested us to do so. Your email address and information we gather from subscribers to our e-news lists is not made available to other organizations or companies. All IDA email communications contain a link to unsubscribe or to modify your profile. Should you wish to unsubscribe, you may do so at any time you choose by visiting the Action Center subscription area, and clicking the link to change your e-newsletter subscriptions.

Non-authorized personnel do not have physical access to our computers or database. Security guidelines are periodically reviewed, as well as when any new policies may be added. The servers that we use to store personally-identifiable information are secured through administrator passwords.

If we materially change our privacy practices in handling personally-identifiable information, as described in this policy, we will notify you by posting the changes on this privacy statement and on the www.idausa.org website at least 30 days prior to implementation.

To expand and strengthen our membership base through prospect mail solicitations, we do periodically makes the names and addresses of our membership available (as they do to us) to reputable non-profit organizations.
