Special Projects Officer
Christy Griffin, Special Projects Officer at In Defense of Animals, works in the areas of activist relations and campaign coordination. Christy’s best friend Ronnie Suzette, a rescue dog, comes to work with her every day.
Christy has been in the animal rights movement for more than twenty years. She has had companion animals all of her life, including a chicken when she was a child. When she realized that the chicken on her plate was the same animal as her companion, she started on the path to vegetarianism and then veganism.
Prior to IDA, Christy worked for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for four years as a Campaign Coordinator and Senior Activist Liaison. After leaving PETA, Christy worked with restaurants in Norfolk, Virginia, to create and implement vegan menus.
Christy is originally from Arizona and is a graduate of Northern Arizona University. She moved to the San Francisco Bay area from Virginia in September 2012. Her favorite quote is: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” Martin Luther King, Jr.
