Animal Allies Unite for Just Laws

In Defense of Animals’ Justice for Animals Campaign based in Winona, Mississippi  and the Bolivar County Humane Society (BCHS) based in Cleveland, Mississippi have once again joined forces in their respective missions to protect animals from the cruel neglect and physical violence that humans too often subject them to. The BCHS hosted the coalition’s first regional meeting to kick off the combined efforts of the organizations to see city and county ordinances amended to include the state’s lax, but superior law for aggravated animal cruelty.

Both organizations have a rich history of combining resources and experience when seeking justice and rescuing animals- often seizing animals and filing affidavits for the prosecution of the offenders involved in the cases. When the BCHS operated the animal shelter (now run by the city),  the organizations shared space and resources for the care of rescued animals, including horses.  Members of the BCHS have since established “Pawprints Rescue” to humanely house and aid cats and dogs who might otherwise be impounded in the city shelter.

We continue to align with like minded organizations, leaders, and individuals to educate guardians in the humane care of their animals and to curb the irrational and savage attacks on Mississippi animals.
