Ask Tennessee Governor To Veto “Ag Gag” Bill

We here at In Defense of Animals are excited that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has become involved in the struggle against “Ag Gag” bills. Ag Gag bills seek to criminalize individuals who document animal abuse in slaughterhouses and on factory farms. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are our constitutional rights as Americans. Without the evidence that undercover video provides, the worst abuses committed by the factory farming industry would go unseen and unpunished.

Ag Gag bills are a clear attempt by animal agriculture interests to suppress exposure of severe animal abuse. If the animal agriculture industry is not responsible for any wrongdoings and has nothing to hide, it should not be concerned about undercover investigations. Please join IDA and the ACLU to ask Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to veto Ag Gag legislation (SB 1248/ HB 1191) this week.

There’s obviously much cruelty to be hidden if they don’t want anyone to see what’s going on!

Cruelty is the crime, not the documenting of it. Do not attempt to silence those who expose it!
