Animals Suffer For Fur Annually

Join a Fur Free Friday Event Near You to Stop the Suffering

Did you know that at any given time, there are roughly ONE BILLION rabbits imprisoned on fur farms all over the world, with France alone brutally killing 70 MILLION rabbits per year? Each year, more rabbits are killed for their fur than all other animals combined.

On rabbit fur farms, babies are taken from their mothers at four weeks old, transferred to nurseries until they are eight weeks old, and then moved to solitary wire cages for the rest of their short lives. When they are six months old and almost the size of their cage, they are brutally slaughtered.

Undercover investigations have documented rows of rabbits living in filthy cages, some with oozing wounds and physical deformities. Over 15 percent of farmed rabbits die from respiratory infections from breathing in the fumes from the waste that accumulates beneath their cages. Sick animals are reported to be smashed against walls repeatedly until they die. During transport to slaughter, broken bones and traumatic lesions are common. Some animals are dead on arrival due to poor ventilation and lack of room. Animal rights photographer Jo-Anne McArthur Took pictures of terrified rabbits watching as others were slaughtered in front of them.

Rabbits are highly sensitive, emotional beings who thrive in social environments, where they have room to run and play together. They don’t belong on fur farms, and neither do any other animals! Join IDA as we stand up for rabbits and all animals abused for their fur on Fur Free Friday. Our anti-fur message will be heard across the United States and around the world.
