Black Dog Adopted After 4 Year Wait

Black Dog Adopted After 4 Year Wait

Thurman waited for a home for FOUR years! Poor Thurman came to our In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary four years ago as a little pup.  His brothers and sisters came too, but sadly they had contracted the parvo virus and did not survive the deadly disease.

Thurman, being a black dog, was caught in what is known as “the black dog syndrome,”  a phenomenon where black dogs are passed over for adoption in favor of lighter colored dogs. This happens day after day in shelters and sanctuaries across the world.

Through it all Thurman never gave up and neither did we!  We held onto the belief that one day the perfect home would come along for him and now that has happened!

A wonderful family saw his picture posted on the adoption site of our rescue partner, Animal Rescue Front, located in Groton, Massachusetts and knew right away that he was the dog they had been looking for.  After four long years, Thurman is finally going home.

We are so very grateful to the families that adopt our babies and to our rescue partner that works tirelessly to find such great homes for them.

In Defense of Animals’  Hope Animal Sanctuary never gives up on any animal.  We are committed to finding that perfect home for each and every animal in our care.  Your donations will allow us to help many more animals that need a safe haven until their families have been found!

Please donate to help other “black dog syndrome” dogs find their forever guardians and please adopt animals with black coats!
