California Fish and Game Commission Votes to Betray Wildlife

Sadly, last month the California Fish and Game Commission voted to allow GPS tracking devices to be used on hounds for hunting deer.  Not only does this vote neglect to take other wildlife into consideration, but it declares that the impact the tracking devices have on deer themselves doesn’t matter.

When hounds hunt deer, they push the deer deep into the forest and the hounds wander further and further, disrupting the habitats of other wildlife and potentially threaten their safety. In addition, the GPS technology will allow hunters to find the exact location of their victims, where they will kill them with the assistance of their hounds. Already, 39 states have banned hunting deer with hounds. It’s time for California to jump on board as only 1% of the entire California population hunts.

Once again, hunters are considered before the rest of the natural world and so animals will suffer. It’s time for those of who don’t hunt to really start paying attention and speaking up on behalf of beleaguered California wildlife.
