Resources | Overview

Take a stand: refuse to dissect. Most likely you are not the only student, parent or teacher at your school who opposes dissection. Get your friends and family involved. You and your group can design, sign and circulate a petition to classmates, teachers, school administrators and principals, even your community, requesting an end to dissection in your school or entire school district.

Students can inform other students, circulate petitions, and post notices about alternatives to dissection on school bulletin boards and in school newspapers, or give a dissections awareness presentation to classes and assemblies.

Parents can circulate petitions and information about dissections and alternatives to their neighbors and to members of the Parents Teacher Association.

Send a letter-to-the-editor stating your views on dissection and mentioning your efforts to stop the practice at your school. Also, ask local animal protection organizations to assist with your ant-dissection campaign, or start your own animal protection group in school.

Most of all, don't be discouraged. Thousands of people have pursued the path to a cruelty-free classroom-with success.

If we are to be successful, we must place ads, hold press conferences, organize additional protests and produce thousands of cards, posters, flyers and brochures.
