Here is how you can celebrate!
- Learn more about the suffering of captive parrots and become a voice for them.
- Support parrot rescue organizations and become a volunteer.
- Become an educator. Let people know that parrots have wild traits that prevent them from being good pets. If you are parrot caretaker, tell people the truth. Rather than promoting parrots as perfect pets, let people know about your negative experiences and the pitfalls of keeping parrots.
- Report abuse and neglect of parrots when you see it in public places or behind closed doors./p>
- Support legislation that will enforce and stiffen laws that protect captive birds.
- Create Compassion Based Bird Clubs that do not exploit parrots by not breeding, selling, or using parrots as door prizes or objects to trade.
- Support conservation and wildlife organizations that protect parrots in the wild.
