Thousands of parrots are victims of animal hoarding each year. The victims often suffer and agonize secretly behind closed doors, with little to no chance for rescue. Although parrot hoarders often believe they are saving or rescuing their victims, nothing could be further from the truth. Parrots kept in hoarding conditions usually suffer from extreme neglect, are not given proper food, water, or veterinary care. The conditions are usually filthy and may include decaying parrot carcasses among the live birds, rodents, insects, feces, and rotten, moldy food.
