When Sharon Stone, Operations Manager of In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary answered her phone, the caller said, “Please help me. Someone dumped puppies at my house and I can’t keep them.”  As often is the case in rural areas, unwanted puppies are simply dumped.  Many families have numerous dogs dumped near their homes and they care for them until they finally become overwhelmed.

That was the case for this family.  Known as animal lovers, they were often targeted by people who allowed their dogs to breed indiscriminately.  This time they asked for our help and we responded.  The four little black pups were covered in fleas and extremely thin.  At Hope Animal Sanctuary they were given the medications they needed, a lot of good puppy food and oodles and oodles of TLC.  These puppies are the lucky ones and  today they have families of their own.  Sadly, there are many more abandoned dogs and puppies who need homes of their own.
