Dog Baths Provide Relief on Hot Afternoons

On a recent oven-hot Sunday at the In Defense of Animals India Center in Mumbai, a group of young volunteers came in to give baths to our resident dogs. Some dogs who needed medications, like skin ointments or medicated shampoos, were skipped that day, but most, including the oldies and those adorable, sometimes naughty juveniles, had their refreshing showers and how they loved them!

Due to the continuous watering of the floors, the tiles cool down considerably and this helps to bring down the overall temperature in the kennels a winwin for dogs and volunteers who worked for hours so each dog had their turn.

Our volunteer program is picking up considerably, thanks to efforts by trustees Vivenne and Priya. With more handson involvement, our volunteers see the many problems and challenges we face, along with our ongoing successes, which gives them a much needed perspective. With a growing number of volunteers, the dogs get those vital extras that enrich their daily lives while in residence at our IDA India Center.
