Dog Burned Alive in Mississippi

Torturer Fined $327.50

The October 27, 2015 sentencing of Jonathan Thompson, of 302 Cade Street, Winona, Mississippi for the heinous act of burning his dog alive astounded court attendees, and animal advocates alike. Thompson pleaded guilty to two citations issued following the September 28, 2015 investigation by Winona City Animal Control Officer Jim Smith regarding the report of a burned dog carcass on Thompson’s property. ACO Smith confirmed the report and his investigation led to the arrest of Thompson for cruelty to an animal.

We’re taking this opportunity to announce IDA’s new Justice for Animals Campaign (JAC) which will expose the inadequacies of animal cruelty laws. It has already initiated a grassroots coalition to gain meaningful ordinances and statutes citizens, law enforcement, and judges are clamoring for.

“When Judge Donald W. Bond imposed his sentencing of a $327.50 fine for the brutal burning of Thompson’s dog the shock and disbelief of attendees was audible,” said JAC Director Doll Stanley.
