Dog Survives Horrific Encounter in Trap

Chester was out for a walk on his property and, not knowing anything of property lines, he wandered into the woods near his home. The next thing he experienced was excruciating pain and terror. Chester had unwittingly stepped into a steel jaw trap. Who knows how long Chester struggled to free himself from the metal jaw that was cutting deeply into his foot. Amazingly, unlike most victims of these horrendous and antiquated devices used to capture and kill innocent beings, Chester managed to wrench his foot loose and to make it back home.  It had been three days.

Chester’s guardian called In Defense of Animals for assistance, and wanted to know what could be done about trapping in his area.  The truth is that in 2016, this barbaric form of capture is still legal.

Chester has been under veterinary care for three weeks now, while his veterinarian desperately attempts to save his badly injured and infected toes.

Chester’s family hopes he will get to go home this week. Most other animals aren’t so lucky.

Billions of animals will continue to be brutally trapped if together we do not take a stand.
