Would Eating Animals Be a Sin?

Would Eating Animals Be a Sin?

Have you ever wondered how best to approach people of faith about adopting cruelty-free practices which would truly align with their doctrines of compassion? Since most of us include animals in our definition of compassion for all living beings, we often struggle for acceptance when our values of compassion conflict with those of others in faith-based communities.

Christian Vegetarian Association’s Chair and Vegetarian Advocates in Cleveland’s President Dr. Steve Kaufman has spent years responding to people of faith who argue, “God gave man dominion over all Creation.” In fact, he writes and lectures extensively on the topic of Christian spirituality and vegetarianism. He even wrote two books on the topic, “Guided by the Faith of Christ: Seeking to Stop Violence and Scapegoating” and “Good News for All Creation: Vegetarianism as Christian Stewardship.”

Dr. Kaufman shares his insights about what is Christian about veganism and explores whether eating animals is a sin on our next Vegan Spirituality Online Gathering on Thursday, November 10, 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. PST (8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST). Participate by phone or online as we explore the spirituality of veganism with “Peace to All Beings” author Judy Carman and In Defense of Animals’ Sustainable Activism Campaign Director Lisa Levinson.
