Faux Fur May Be Dog, Cat or Rabbit Fur!

Faux Fur May Be Dog, Cat or Rabbit Fur!

Canadian MP Takes Action

We recently reported on the loophole within America’s leather industry that ends up allowing dog skin products being imported from Asia, simply due to nonexistent labeling or mislabeling. Consumers still purchasing leather goods, could very well be wearing dog skin and supporting the horrific dog meat industry in Asia, and are undoubtedly supporting cruelty to other kinds of animals

Vancouver MP Don Davies has now also joined the fight against such dubious imports with his current crusade focusing on dog, cat and rabbit fur imported into Canada, either without a label or mislabeled as “faux fur” on many clothing products. It’s outrageous that people can be led to think they are buying clothing that doesn’t involve the deaths of animals, when they’re actually wearing animals, including ones they may be living with!

“Dogs and cats are part of our families in Canada and I think there’s a general consensus in this country that we object strongly to cruelty against them,” stated Davies.

We applaud Davies’ work and are calling for similar action here in the U.S. While the U.S. currently prohibits importing dog and cat fur, loopholes still exist within the leather industry. If you haven’t done so already, send our letter below calling on the United States of America Federal Trade Commission to take action to ban leather from Asia.
