Free to Good Home is a Red Flag!

Free to Good Home is a Red Flag!

Whenever we see the advertisement of  “free to good home” it immediately sets off alarm bells. Many times these animals offered as “free to good home” by well meaning but naïve people will find themselves in situations both dire and cruel. Unethical and abusive animal testing labs have been known to round up as many “free to good home” animals as they can via Class B Dealers  as cheap sources of test subjects, or worse. Animal fighting rings also pick up free animals as bait.

When Sharon Stone, the operations manager of In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary saw this ominous tag on a recent social media post about four puppies, she simply had to act. A quick phone call later and Sharon had not only educated the poster about the many hazards of this ubiquitous practice but had also secured all four of the puppies to the care of Hope Animal Sanctuary where they will continue to receive nutritious food, and will get the necessary vaccinations and be part of the rigorous screening process to ensure that each animal is placed in a genuine loving home and not dropped into the clutches of  unethical animal abusers.

We are constantly striving to educate the public about the value and necessity of spay / neuter. By supporting In Defense of Animals today you are not only helping to save the lives of innocent puppies like Oriana (pictured here) and her three siblings, but also to fund efforts to educate the public about its role as responsible guardians so that even more lives are saved in the future.

If you have not already done so please consider making a generous donation today.
