Explore veganism as a spiritual practice with guest speakers, group discussions, and inspirational readings facilitated by co-hosts “Peace to All Beings” author Judy Carman and In Defense of Animals’ Sustainable Activism Campaign Director Lisa Levinson. Cohan,-Jeffrey,-mugshotJeffrey Cohan is the Executive Director of Jewish Veg and the author of The Beet-Eating Heeb, a popular blog about the theology of veganism. Jeffrey became a vegetarian in 2007 and a vegan in 2011 after studying what the Torah instructs us about our dietary choices. An experienced public speaker, he worked in print and broadcast journalism for 18 years before starting a second career in Jewish communal service. Jeffrey was the Director of Community Relations for the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh from 2005-2012, then took the helm of Jewish Veg, then known as Jewish Vegetarians of North America, in 2012. Under his leadership, Jewish Veg, a 501c3 nonprofit, has emerged as the fastest growing veg advocacy organization in the nation. Jeffrey earned a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master’s of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He lives in Pittsburgh, PA, with his wife Kathryn, daughter Kiley, and cats Nala and Crosby.
