Fun Ways To Help IDA

Buy David Dayan Fisher's Book, "Puppy School"!

British actor David Dayan Fisher landed his first role in National Treasure and has since appeared as a guest star in such shows as 24, Numb3rs and Medium, as well as a regular guest star for four seasons on NCIS. Three years ago, Fisher became an advocate for animal rescue when he was rescued by a scruffy little mutt named Burton. Fisher turned his love for canines into Puppy School, a children’s book about mutts and pedigrees, friendship and equality.

Fisher is giving back by donating 50% of the book’s proceeds to In Defense of Animals from now through April 2011!

From Pinot Noirs to Sauvignon Blancs to Sangioveses, these vegan-friendly, biodynamic, delicious wines created by the extensive Frey family have lent a special air to IDA’s recent events, and we are thrilled with our partnership with such a reputable and conscientious company. Plus, they keep no less than 30 dogs on their extensive 99 acre ranch – what’s not to love?!

MINE:

The award-winning documentary MINE tells the poignant and powerful story of animals left behind during Katrina -- from the heroic efforts of rescue organizations, to the struggles of hurricane victims to reunite with their beloved pets. A meditation on the essential bond between humans and animals – MINE is an equally compelling story about human nature and the power of compassion.

It is the policy of In Defense of Animals to no longer use language that accepts the current concept of animals as property, commodities and/or things. Rather than refer to ourselves or others as "owners" of animals we share our lives with, we now refer to ourselves and others as "guardians" of our animal friends and to animals as "he" or "she" rather than "it."

"Animals have been regarded as property for way too long. It's high time we took on a more loving and responsible relationship with our kindred beings in the web of life on this beautiful planet. I always think and act as a guardian towards my kindred beings, never as their owner."
