Have you heard about the Herbivorous Butcher?

Have you heard about the Herbivorous Butcher?

Giving up meat can be hard for some people because they like the taste, or because it has cultural connotations that they feel sentimental about, so it’s encouraging to see a truly innovative concept, such as a vegan butcher shop, where the residents of Minnesota can go to buy delicious cruelty-free alternatives, without sacrificing taste or tradition. Most importantly, this can be done without putting money in the pockets of businesses that hurt, confine and kill animals.Brother-sister duo, Aubrey and Kale Walch, caught on to the idea in 2013, when they were preparing faux meat for themselves and their family and friends. Recognizing the growing demand for cruelty-free “meats,”, they began a stall at their local Minneapolis Farmers’ Market and then turned to Kickstarter to fund their new business expansion and launch the first vegan “butcher” shop in the USA!

“We’re here to bridge the gap so that omnivores can switch over,” Aubrey says, “We don’t use funny words for our products. We call them what they are.”

The Walch siblings use locally sourced ingredients and many flavorful sauces made of herbs, beans and rice. Their “meats” such as vegan pork chops are surprisingly like the real deal in terms of texture and taste!

Lucky for animals and the environment, and people living outside of Minnesota, delicious cruelty-free “meat” alternatives are booming, and available in most major supermarkets!

You can save 200 animals per year by adopting a plant-based diet.
