This was a difficult case for our In Defense of Animals India Turbhe center. This poor dog met with an accident at Belapur railway station and had her leg completely crushed and dismembered. She was brought to us in an unconscious state after losing a lot of blood.

She was taken up on the table for an operation a few hours after stabilizing her and after months of intensive care in challenging circumstances, you can see how she is much better and hopping around. All of this is thanks to our dedicated and compassionate vets and our staff who never say it’s okay to give up.

Recently, our vet decided she was fit for transfer to the Deonar main center. She will not be released back to Belapur as her earlier area was the railway station, and we cannot send her back to an unsafe location, so she will be with us for life now, though we will try to get her adopted if there is someone kind enough to take her to into a secure and loving home.

We have named her Jeena, meaning “life” in Hindi.
