Hard Work Pays Off Again

Hard Work Pays Off Again

Over the past few months, we at Hope Animal Sanctuary have rescued numerous dogs from neglect, abandonment, hoarding and cruelty. The work of healing, vetting, and gaining the trust of many of these dogs was a day-by-day act of devotion on the part of our staff, fellow rescuers and our foster homes.

The work has paid off in a big way!

We have just completed two transports, which included many of these dogs, to our adoption partners, Every Creature Counts in Ft. Lupton, Colorado. In all, 185 dogs and two kittens were transported.

Our first transport, primarily of small dogs, arrived in Colorado on April 24th. Our second transport arrived on May 1st, and consisted mostly of large dogs. See pictures of this transport here! [singlepic id=35 w=320 h=240 float=right]

Incredibly, the first weekend after our second transport more than 100 of our dogs were matched with families and found their forever homes through Every Creature Counts’ outreach event at a local Petsmart.

One of the many stories from these recent transports that stands out is that of Gandalf.

Gandalf, blind and partially deaf, was removed from an abusive situation in Winona, MS. As soon as he arrived at Every Creature Counts, the great staff there took him under their collective wing, making him feel welcome and loved. [singlepic id=34 w=320 h=240 float=right]

We are thrilled to report that Gandalf was adopted by a family with two Golden Retrievers who have taken a special interest in helping Gandalf navigate his new forever home.

Successes like this are what help us keep going in spite of the odds, and we will help many more animals with the combined support of all of our caring friends. Thank you for standing with us!
