India Bans Import of Dogs for Breeding

While the street dogs of India are able to endure the heat, many purebred dogs, such as Siberian huskies, Alaskan malamutes, Saint Bernards, and many snub-nosed dogs, like the pug, are ill-equipped. Often purchased online as status symbols, the temperament and care needs for such dogs is unknown by their purchasers and the dogs are the ones who suffer.

While breeders have raised concerns over the affect on “bloodlines,” we applaud the move and always recommend adopting, rather than shopping for your next canine family member.
