Meet Molly

This sad, yet sweet girl was abandoned in her own home when the morally bankrupt family who had been looking after her simply moved away and left her behind with a litter of newborn puppies of her own and no one to turn to. Neighbors alerted rescue staff at In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi who quickly stepped in to provide kindness and shelter for poor Molly and her young dependents.

With some good fortune and a lot of perseverance, all of Molly’s puppies were found homes. However, during her spay procedure, it was determined that Molly was heartworm positive, which is a life threatening but preventable and treatable condition. Sadly, that situation will require Molly to remain at Hope Animal Sanctuary a little longer than anticipated, and delay her adoption.

In the coming weeks and months ahead, Molly will be prescribed a course of antibiotics, corticosteroids, and injections of the arsenic derived heartworm treatment necessary to save her life. During this time, Molly will need to be closely monitored and have her activity severely limited if she is to have any hope of recovery. It sounds daunting (and it is…) but with some luck and a lot of love Molly will be back to her old self. Your kind support of In Defense of Animals makes stories like this possible. Your generous donations are what fuel our work and our commitment to all of our rescues.

Good luck Molly, we’re with you.
