Meet Stout

Last spring, rescue workers from In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada Mississippi were called by a nearby veterinarian looking for some help to find a home for a little puppy that had been struck by a car, not once but twice. Although his condition was quite grave, neither In Defense of Animals nor the vet staff at Greenwood Animal Shelter where he was being treated were prepared to give up on him. With lots of love and care the little guy’s condition gradually improved and it was up to rescue staff at Hope Animal Sanctuary to ensure that he found the perfect forever home.

His injuries eventually healed, but he was left with some scars that were both mental and physical. The trauma to his head caused him to suffer some vision loss in his left eye and one little ear remained flopped over in an odd way. However, to everyone around him, he was simply beautiful. After much searching he was placed in his new forever home with caring guardians in Vermont who generously provided him with a new life and named him Stout. Occasionally Stout’s guardians will take him to other adoption events in their area where Stout serves as an ambassador for other rescue dogs just like him. Stout still has a little vision loss in his eye from his injuries but it does not seem to slow him down one bit. He is charming, loving and looks even more handsome with that odd flopped-over ear.
