Meet Walkie Talkie!

Meet Walkie Talkie!

Safe from harm, but not out of danger yet…

All of the cats rescued from the Kelly Hoarding Case, one of the worst hoarding situations in recent memory, are now settled in at the ever expanding cattery at In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary. In the days to come, new in-takes will be treated for infections to their eyes, skin, and respiratory systems, and they will receive de-worming medications as well as their full schedule of recommended vaccinations.

At the end of the month, everyone will be either spayed or neutered. After days of carefully, gently gathering animals too sick or weak to run away; after many weeks of frustrating evenings spent trapping the ferals, too shy or too shrewd to fall for food left as bait; after many agonizing vet visits determining who could be saved and who could not, the real work of finding loving forever homes begins. Even the oldest and most feral of these rescues will be found appropriate homes. In the most extreme cases, feral cats are adopted to rural families as ‘barn’ cats where they are allowed to roam but are provided with food and care and maybe even one day (if they allow it) a scratch behind the ears.

Without the generous support from donors across the globe, none of this would have been possible. We could never give them this last chance towards forever homes without you. If ever there was a group of animals who needed you, it was these neglected friends. We will let you know more about how the cats (and newborn kittens) are doing in the coming weeks.

If you have not already done so please consider making a generous contribution today.
