Doll Stanley continues to advocate for Mississippi’s animals

Grenada, Mississippi (September, 17 2015) – In Defense of Animals is pleased to announce the following changes at Hope Animal Sanctuary, located in Grenada, Mississippi.

Doll Stanley recently started her new position as IDA’s Mid-South Regional Representative to advocate for animal welfare within and for the state of Mississippi by working with lawmakers and local law enforcement to improve cruelty laws and enforcement within the state. Doll began her career as the Director of Hope Animal Sanctuary in 1993, when she was dispatched by In Defense of Animals to investigate the illegal sale of dogs for animal experimentation. She was instrumental in the prosecution of a notorious Class B dealer who purchased dogs at the local trade days and stole family pets for sale to research facilities. Since then, Doll has rescued and placed thousands of animals, including tigers, lions, bears, llamas, pigs, horses, dogs, and cats. Doll is a fearless voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Knowing that she had big shoes to fill, Debbie Clark stepped into the role of Director of Operations for Hope Animal Sanctuary on September 1st. As the former Director for the Leflore County Humane Society in Greenwood, Mississippi, Debbie has a strong background in animal care and welfare. She brings her compassion and love for animals to her new position. Sharon Stone will remain at Hope Animal Sanctuary as Operations Manager, assisting Debbie Clark with day-to-day operations.

Hope Animal Sanctuary will continue be a safe haven for the animals in our care for years to come. We have exciting plans to improve our facility in 2016! Although the sanctuary is currently filled to capacity, we are working hard to find wonderful homes for these precious animals who are adoptable, while we continue to provide sanctuary for those who are not. As our residents are adopted into their forever homes, we will be able to accept new animals into the sanctuary again. Until that time, we will continue to be a voice for animals in need.
