Activists Hope Free "Dog Meat" Difficult for San Franciscans to Swallow
IDA Reveals South Korea's Apathy to Illegal Abuse, Urges Action

San Francisco, CA Holding signs reading, "Dogs Are Friends, Not Food" members of IDA will offer free samples of "dog meat" to San Francisco's hungry lunchtime crowd while calling attention to the South Korean Government's complete refusal to enforce current laws prohibiting the beating, hanging, burning, electrocution, and boiling of conscious cats and dogs for consumption. Activists beg caring citizens unable to stomach "dog meat" to speak out against the abhorrent cruelties inflicted on these animals:

Date: Wednesday, November 17
Time: 12:30-2:00 p.m.
Place: Union Square in front the center statue

Why are activists foaming at the mouth? South Korea's laws prohibiting the consumption of dogs and cats are completely ignored and disregarded by law enforcement and international pressure is mounting to end the dirty, illegal trade. Dog butchers extol the virtues of their product, linking the adrenaline rush dogs experience as they are bludgeoned to death to enhanced male virility. Cats fare no better-viewed as pest animals, they are boiled alive so their "juices" can be extracted for supposed health tonics which butchers claim can be used to treat rheumatism.

"We know that caring citizens around the globe find cruelty towards 'man's best friends' difficult to digest and will be outraged to hear that the South Korean Government simply turns a blind eye as dogs and cats are hung and boiled alive," says IDA president and founder Elliot M. Katz, DVM. "Before dogs are killed for meat they are often strung up by their legs and beaten. Animal cruelty is illegal in most countries and enforcement of the law is long overdue in South Korea."
