Singer Nellie McKay to Perform at World Vegetarian Day Celebration

San Francisco, California—San Francisco Vegetarian Society (SFVS) and In Defense of Animals (IDA) are pleased to announce that acclaimed singer/songwriter/pianist Nellie McKay will be performing at the World Vegetarian Day celebration, co-presented by the organizations.

McKay, who has been a vegetarian since age 8, has been lauded by critics for her unique style. Herbivore magazine describes it as “neo-cabaret eclecticism.” The Village Voice said of her debut album, Get Away From Me, “…not counting Stephin Merritt, no other under-40 approaches McKay's gift for cabaret.”

When: September 30, 2006 - Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
Where: County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park, at the corner of 9th Avenue and Lincoln Way

SFVS and IDA’s World Vegetarian Day celebration will take place on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The festival will also feature:
