Cows, Pigs, and Chickens Encourage Oregonians to Go Meat Free in Observance of Meatout
Portland, Ore.—To celebrate the Great American Meatout and mark the first day of spring, In Defense of Animals (IDA) is hosting a vegan outreach event at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Animal advocates wearing cow, pig, and chicken costumes will greet passersby with a 10-foot banner with colorful animal images and the message, “Choose compassion with every bite. GO VEGAN!” Free samples of Turtle Mountain all natural So Delicious Dairy Free Creamy Raspberry Bars, Creamy Orange Bars, and Minis will be distributed to the hungry lunchtime crowd. When: Wednesday, March 21st , 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Free Vegan starter kits with yummy vegan recipes and informative DVDs will also be available with details on how caring consumers can end the violence toward animals on factory farms by choosing a compassionate, plant-based diet Every year on March 20th, thousands of caring people of different ages and walks of life from all 50 states celebrate Meatout by educating their communities about the joys and benefits of a compassionate plant-based diet and ask their friends, families and neighbors to “kick the meat habit” (at least for a day). This year marks the 22nd consecutive annual Meatout, making it again the largest and longest-running annual grassroots diet education campaign in history.
