IDA Adds $2500 to Reward for Information Leading to Arrest and Conviction of Individual who Tortured and Killed Dog
Oakland, Calif.—San Rafael-based In Defense of Animals (IDA) is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for torturing and killing a dog whose remains were found in Oakland on Tuesday. Added to the existing $7000 bounty for the killer’s capture being offered by the East Bay SPCA and Voices for Pets, this brings the total reward up to $9500. According to authorities, the dog was discovered with a shirt tied around his head and his legs bound with rope. This is the second reported incidence of animal cruelty in Oakland in three weeks. Authorities are still searching for the person or persons responsible for shooting 15 goats in the Oakland Hills last month. Would you please consider sharing this information with your audience? It may be the only hope for finding the person responsible for this reprehensible act. Anyone with information on the case should contact Oakland Animal Services at (510) 535-5640 or Voices for Pets at (925) 685-5388. Studies by the F.B.I. and U.S. Department of Justice have proven the connection between animal abuse, child abuse, and domestic violence. Violent acts toward animals, when left unaddressed, have been linked to intensified violence and neglect and/or expansion to human victims. IDA President Elliot M. Katz, DVM stated, “Oakland residents are concerned and for good reason. Individuals who abuse animals often move on to human victims. It is imperative that we get the perpetrator of this monstrous crime off the streets.” For more information about In Defense of Animals, visit www.idausa.org.
