National Animal Protection Group Offers $2500 Reward in Brutal Massachusetts Dog Killings

MILL VALLEY, Calif. – In Defense of Animals announced today that they are offering a reward of $2500.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the brutal killings.

Local residents and the staff of the Animal Rescue League of Boston are at a loss to explain the malicious killings of four dogs, which have occurred in the small rural area of Taunton, MA. According to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, on March 3rd, a family dog named Duke was kicked to death by someone in the area. Then the beaten body of a pit bull was found floating in the local river, his muzzle and front legs had been bound with duct tape. Soon after that incident, a Shepard cross dog, named Sable, was found hung by the neck in a wooded area. Incredibly, a 14-year-old Italian Greyhound, Vanessa, was found hung by the neck on her guardian's front porch shortly after a neighbor had threatened to kill her.

While there are laws protecting the treatment and welfare of animals, some individuals obviously believe that they are above the law. Perhaps someone with information will now come forward, enabling the cases to be solved, and in so doing alleviate the fears among many in the community.

"By bringing the perpetrators of this hideous crime to justice, we will not only be protecting animals, but also people, because animal abusers will be abusive and injurious to people as well," said IDA President Elliot M. Katz, DVM.

If you have any information about these killings, it is urged that you call the Ted Clark of the Animal Rescue League Of Boston at: 617-426-9170 or the Taunton Police Department at:508-824-7522.

In Defense of Animals is a national animal protection organization dedicated to ending the exploitation and abuse of animals by defending their rights, welfare and habitats. It our policy to no longer use language that accepts the current concept of animals as property, commodities and/or things. Rather than refer to ourselves or others as "owners" of animals we share our lives with, we now refer to ourselves and others as "guardians" of our animal friends and to animals as "he" or "she" rather than "it." IDA's efforts also include educational events, cruelty investigations, boycotts, grassroots activism, and hands-on rescue through our sanctuaries in Mississippi and Cameroon, Africa.
