Pig Chase Victory for Activists!

Pig Chase Victory for Activists!

Thanks to the heroic efforts of animal activist Kelly Lehman and your help signing our alert, the Ephrata pig chase will not celebrate its 40th year. This annual tradition of cruelty and abuse was cancelled this year, marking a major activist victory!

The Fair Committee responded to pressure from animal activists who planned a protest at the event, and people like you who urged Fair sponsors to reconsider their sponsorship.

When you take action, it makes a difference!

Kelly saw the pain and suffering on the faces of pigs in the race last year and made a personal vow to help them. She came up with a strategic plan that worked, but she didn’t do it alone. In Defense of Animals stepped up to offer support and strengthen her efforts. Your support showed the Fair Committee that Kelly was not alone. You stood with In Defense of Animals’ 250,000-strong community who share Kelly’s view that pig chases are inhumane, teaching children to abuse animals rather than to care for them.

Kelly won’t rest until the pig chase is banned for good. We won’t either!

This is the power of a community of animal activists who support one another. Our Sustainable Activism Campaign is building a resilient activist community via instructional webinars, online support groups, and a support line. Tell us about your campaigns to help animals so we can support your efforts!
