Please Spay and Neuter!

Every year, literally hundreds of thousands of unwanted and discarded animals are killed in shelters across the country. Sadly, all of these deaths would be largely preventable if people would make the responsible decision to have their companions spayed or neutered. The procedures are harmless, widely available at no or reduced cost, and promote long term health and behavioral benefits for all animal companions of either sex.

This little guy and his seven (!) siblings came to In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi from a family that failed to have its female dog spayed. The family members quickly realized they were becoming overwhelmed by attempting to care for eight young puppies and that they would need help not just providing for the newborns but also finding homes for all of them. How could we say no to this face?

Adoption specialists at Hope Animal Sanctuary made sure that all eight received sterilization procedures, including the mother dog, and that all have been found loving forever homes. Placing all eight of these unfortunate puppies in homes is a bittersweet victory. For every one dog or cat adopted another 10 will be killed. Please do your part to stem the growing pet over-population crisis. Spay and Neuter!
