Protect Animals and Humans from Domestic Abuse

Our world can be as dark a place for humans as it is for animals. Years of cruelty investigations have led members of our staff to witness the lingering terror and anguish suffered by women and men who have been abused by those who are supposed to love them.

One of the most astounding cases involved a man who stole dogs to starve to death in order to subject his wife to the fear that he would do the same to her. The hell within the residence was truly haunting. There were so many carcasses and bones that we couldn’t tell exactly how many animals had fallen victim to the mad “demon of the house.”  In Defense of Animals charged over forty counts of animal abuse and saved four animals, a rooster and three dogs, while his wife was fortunate enough to finally escape his clutches. But not all are so lucky.

Now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we need your voice to reach it.

The Pets and Women Safety Act, (PAWS) Act  S. 1559 / H.R. 1258 has been introduced to protect animal and human victims of domestic abuse.

Men, women and children can all find themselves at the blunt end of abuse. The struggle these victims have in coming to terms with the reality that they must get away from their abusers or suffer further abuse, or even a violent death takes a terrible toll on their physical and mental health.
