Puppies are undoubtedly a joy to the world, but with thousands of dogs abandoned in shelters every year, animal birth control is a very serious issue. A caller recently got in touch with our Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi and told us how a female dog, who had come to her house and simply never left, had just given birth to 10 puppies. With three un-neutered males living on the property, it should have come as no surprise that this female would soon get pregnant. We agreed to take all 10 puppies, and had a long discussion on how responsible guardianship means spaying and neutering!

Once at Hope Animal Sanctuary, we gave the pups all the necessary vaccinations and worming medication, and a few weeks later, they were all ready for their new forever homes. We are happy to report that everyone is now living as treasured family members. And the parents? Mom was subsequently spayed and the three males have been neutered.
