Celebrate the Beginning of the End of a Cruel Circus Era!

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus’ infamous elephant shows will end! Parent company, Feld Entertainment, announced this week that their 13 performing elephants will sent to the Center for Elephant Conservation in Florida in 2018.

To YOU, who have ever stood out in the sun, snow, rain to demonstrate against the suffering of animals in circuses…To YOU, who have endured the sneers and insults from ignorant people who don’t see the suffering of animals in the name of entertainment…And to YOU have written letters, made calls, spoken out on behalf of elephants and other suffering animals…We celebrate you!

Yet tomorrow, we return to work and refocus. IDA has been advocating on behalf of elephants and other animals in zoos and circuses for more than 20 years and we will continue to advocate on behalf of the lions, tigers, and other animals who are still being tortured to entertain. We honor those of you who have initiated the beginning of the end of a cruel circus era in the United States – at last! And we look forward to joining you in renewed efforts in ending such unnecessary and excessive cruelty to all animals in the name of entertainment.
