Save The Bees!

Bees, our small friends who play a vital role in pollinating the flowers that become the fruits and vegetables we all need to survive, are still under attack, and their numbers are so reduced that extinction is a very real threat to their continued existence. Strong evidence shows that widely-used neonicotinoid insecticides harm bees and other wild animals. Exposure to neonicotinoids affects bees’ nervous systems, preventing them from being able to find flowers and contributing to hive collapse, which is to blame for a devastating 40%-70% decline in bee populations just last year.

So what could happen to the world if bees went extinct?

Bees are important pollinators and without them the fruits and vegetables that other animals rely on would go into serious decline. Human and other animal and populations would be threatened as a direct result!

The European Union and the state of Maryland have already banned the harmful pesticides. Now it’s time to protect bees before it is too late.

On March 5, 2015, the Saving America’s Pollinators Act of 2015 (H.R. 1284) was introduced. If passed, the bill would effectively suspend sales of the toxic insecticides until it has been determined that “such insecticide will not cause unreasonable adverse effects on pollinators.”

We are all connected to each other, and considering the importance of our small winged friends, is crucial in the fight for their survival.
