Stop Sick Dingo ‘Suicide’ Killers

Over two centuries ago the British government placed goats on Pelorus Island off the coast of Australia to doom them to death as a food supply for stranded sailors and lighthouse keepers. Flash-forward over 200 years and the goats are thriving, but are now considered an “invasive” species. The Mayor responsible for Pelorus Island has just sanctioned one of the sickest “animal control” methods we have ever come across – trapping dingoes and stranding them on the island to kill the goats, but only after implanting the canines with poison that will kill them after they’ve completed their grim missions.

Humane options for the goats, such as relocating or sterilizing them, seem to have been ignored. Ramon Jayo, the Mayor of Hinchinbrook Shire, has tried various methods of killing the island’s goats that have failed, so he has ordered the capture of their natural predators from Australia, the dingo, a distant cousin of the wolf and coyote, and placed them on the island to hunt down and kill all the goats. But first, the dingoes are implanted with a poison pill, which will kill them after two years. This twisted plan to rid the island of the goats not only introduces another “invasive” species to the island, but also kills them too once they have completed their task.
