A Successful Vote in Palm Springs

Recent Vote Bans the Sale of Cats and Dogs

This past month Palm Springs, California council members voted to ban the sale of non-shelter cats and dogs in the city. The vote was a unanimous 4-0 in favor of the ban.

Although there are very few pet stores in Palm Springs, the vote will help ensure that no new stores can be created. The vote for the ban also hopes to put pressure on animal mills, so that people will adopt animals instead of buying them.

Katie Burd, who was one of the supporters at the meeting said that “We have more dogs and cats just piling into our cities, we can’t keep up with the tide. It’s just too much.”

Currently there are around 85 municipalities across the United States that have similar bans and hopefully that number will continue to climb.

Congratulations Palm Springs on your big win! We hope that more cities will join in banning the sale of cats, dogs and all other animals!
