That’s what puppy girls are made of! Sugar’s mom, a Lhasa mix, was literally dumped outside the IDA India Center front gate with her babies. Sugar, her mother, and her siblings were given lots of loving care while awaiting new homes.

Now Sugar has been adopted by a lovely couple from Borivili in Mumbai. She is the second dog they have adopted; the first being a sweet, three-month-old, Trio, who they found living on the street near their workplace and who is now the proud 9-month-old brother of little Sugar.

In Defense of Animals India has played an important role in constantly spreading awareness about the cruelty behind the breeding of dogs while emphasizing the benefits and importance of adopting our street-living Indie dogs. Our efforts are paying off as more and more people are coming forward to adopt these healthy and happy “Indies” and learning about responsible animal care. We are delighted to be playing such a role in this positive change throughout the city of Mumbai.
