Tilly the Cat Slaying Case

Prosecuting Attorney in the Tilly the Cat Slaying Case to Receive Vital Feedback

The trial of Jody Cothron, “suspected” slayer of Tilly, a cat sheltered by the Brookhaven, Mississippi animal shelter is nearing.  Trial is set for this upcoming Tuesday, June 28th and outrage over Tilly’s brutal and shocking death is still thick in the air. Community members and fellow Mississippians are referring to this case as they ponder the sense in the Mississippi code to “control” and protect the millions of Mississippi animals who have only ink on the pages of the state statues to deter evil doers from harming them.

Meanwhile In Defense of Animals’ Justice For Animals Campaign shared the statistics  from our recent  post on the slaying of Tilly with Brookhaven Animal Shelter Director Lu Becker to present to Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Durr in her pretrial meeting with him.  We had  a reach of 709 thousand views  thanks to the thousands of you who responded to this vile incident literally showing the world we don’t stand still for business as usual and our efforts are bringing about changes many of us didn’t conceive of just 20-30 years ago.

When our friends in the public, who are still as yet unaware of the plight of their sentient brothers and sisters see for themselves what is really going down. change will occur.  This has to get personal for all of us.  Incensed, but strategic is what we must be to meet the challenges of directing the once unsurpassable establishment to invest its resources in that which is truly good for all.  Yes, this includes the law makers; legislators who literally hold the power to strike at the soul of violence.

You have the power of the keyboard and we say that we’d like you to keep on using it.
