Back in July, we sent out an alert urging you to tell your U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives to prevent the cruel transport and slaughter of American horses by backing The Safeguard American Food Exports Act of 2015 (Bill H.R. 1942) . The bill currently has 173 cosponsors (136 Democrats, 36 Republicans, 1 Independent).

Thank you to the thousands of you who signed our alert. We are hopeful our collective voices will be acknowledged with a positive result. However, we are concerned that this bill may die, and along with it, any hope for American horses. It has not made it out of committee, and has been there since its introduction in April. It must pass a floor vote of the House as well as make it through the Senate before it can be signed into law
