Last month, thousands of you took action to speak out to stop sick plans to trap dingoes, implant them with poison, and let them loose on an Australian island to kill goats. Today we are happy to tell you – we won!

The inhumane plan to eradicate the Pelorus Island goat population has been shut down. Queensland Environment Minister, Steven Miles, put a stop to the program, citing a similar initiative in the 1990s that threatened the safety and continued prosperity of native birds. Even though Miles believes the feral goats are a problem for farmers, he says there are more humane ways of dealing with them.

This is a great victory not just for the animals of Pelorus, but animals on other Australian islands who were threatened with the same fate.
