Wild Burros in Nevada Need Your Help!

Wild Burros in Nevada Need Your Help!

Only 5,800 wild burros remain on public lands in the West. Wild burros are protected under federal law just as wild horses are, but their numbers are dwindling.

The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to remove 80 percent of the wild burros living in one of the few remaining habitat areas—the Hickison Wild Burro Territory (WBT) in central Nevada. Despite taking recent action to expand the Hickison burro habitat, the Forest Service is proposing to establish an allowable management level of just 16- 45 burros for the WBT.

This must not be allowed to happen. Join with IDA and our coalition partner American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC) to oppose this controversial plan to remove wild burros from the Hickison WBT! Please send a message send a message to the Austin, Nevada, District Ranger.

Thank you for taking action for wild burros!
