Kick-Off Fur Free Friday: Tell Dolce & Gabbana to Ditch Fur for Good!

Kick-Off Fur Free Friday: Tell Dolce & Gabbana to Ditch Fur for Good!

On Fur Free Friday — the biggest shopping day of the year — activists from all over the world team up to raise awareness about the brutal fur trade and encourage the purchase of fur-free holiday gifts.

2021 was an unprecedented year within the fashion industry, with some of the biggest fashion houses and retailers publicly committing to dropping fur. After years of campaigning, Canada Goose, Saint Laurent, Gucci, Balenciaga, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and more have joined the ranks of the fur-free.

Although huge names in fashion are making the switch to faux, there are still some that refuse to acknowledge or meet consumer demand for more compassionately-made apparel.

Animal victims of the fur trade are confined in filthy fur farms, where they are deprived of space to roam, the ability to socialize and form bonds, and everything that makes them wild. To steal their fur, foxes, coyotes, mink, sable, and other fur-bearing animals are internally electrocuted, gassed, bludgeoned, and may even be skinned alive. Animals caught in the wild are trapped and suffer from agonizing wounds, broken limbs, starvation, dehydration, and attacks from predators. If they survive until the trappers return, they are shot dead or bludgeoned.

For this year’s Fur Free Friday and the remainder of 2021, we want to urge Dolce & Gabbana to do the right thing and finally drop cruel animal fur from its designs. Here’s how you can take action:
