Hello, my Name is Chai and he’s Bamboo. We’re elephants from the Woodland Park Zoo. Bamboo and I were moved from Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle to Oklahoma City Zoo this year. We have been moved from one horrible zoo to another, which is shocking since almost everyone has said that they wanted us to go to an accredited sanctuary and not to another zoo that was potentially even worse! I almost died on the way to Oklahoma and Bamboo and I still have serious health and psychological traumas that are going untreated.

In Defense of Animals, along with Friends of Woodland Park Zoo Elephants and many others are still trying to help us get to the sanctuary we need so desperately. The Friends of Woodland Park Zoo Elephants just found out that the USDA recently handed the Oklahoma City Zoo four citations for unhealthy housing practices that put numerous animals at risk, including us – elephants. Please help us in what may be our last chance to get out of these horrible zoos and into a sanctuary where we can finally live in safety and peace!
